Conscious movement practices come in a variety of forms, as they pick up many of the important themes and metaphors that moving brings us. The word movement holds many meanings: getting from here to there, feeling emotional in response to experiencing something, changing something, or organizing activism. When we move, we bring up and enact various memories of how life has moved us and how we have moved through it. All these relationships to movement deserve to be engaged with and made as conscious as possible in a bodyful life. Movement also brings us closer to and farther away from others, and it’s this application to relationships that we will play with in the next chapter.
